Mohammed Ashiq Khalid
The late Mohammed Ashiq Khalid came to the UK in 1963 and was only 16 years at the time. He worked days and nights to get onto the property ladder. In 1967 he brought over his wife and together they had three sons. Mohammed went into retail and brought a supermarket called Freshco Stores in Leyton and then later a small wholesale cash and carry. This was when Frank, the oldest son, started his own business and Elbrook Cash and Carry was formed. Mohammed initially helped his son and guided him in the early years, than in the 90,s he moved back to Pakistan and started a few businesses there.
It began with Khalid Modern Industries and this consists of a cotton factory, Ghee (butter) factory, agriculture farm and farmland based in Hasilpur, Bahawalpur. Mohammed then brought the Khazana Sugar Mill in Peshawer in 1997 and went onto achieve so much.
In March 2021 Mohammed Ashiq Khalid passed away and his family has inherited the businesses and properties. The Pakistani properties are mainly looked after by Frank but all three brothers plan to travel to Pakistan an improve and expand those businesses and carry on the success of the late Mohammed Ashiq Khalid in his memory. They will also carry on the charity work to help the less fortunate that Senior Mr Khalid started in his memory.
