Elbrook Cash & Carry
Our director Frank Khalid started the Elbrook Cash and Carry business in 1984 in Stratford London E15. In 1985 we than moved the business to Barking, Essex which had proved to be difficult times with the economic climate of those times. Frank was later joined by his late father Mohammed Ashiq Khalid and his younger brothers Shimshad and Amjad Khalid. Together they progressed and decided to open a second depot in Mitcham, Surrey, which opened on the 22nd of November 1993.
Both depots proved to be successful and were featured regularly on the “Top 30” wholesalers grocer list. The family decided to lease the Barking depot in 1997 and concentrate on the Mitcham branch due to personal reasons.
From 2001- 2003 the Khalid family brought a few investment properties and in 2003 went into the hospitality business and made a banqueting hall next to the Cash and Carry. This later expanded into a larger wedding venue and a restaurant named Chak 89. The restaurant had gone on to receive numerous awards and both businesses were a growing success.
