Our History

Frank Khalid started the Elbrook Cash and Carry business in 1984 at the age of 15 with his father. In 2005 the expanding business joined the Landmark Wholesale Group achieving company record of £118 Million turnover in 2007 and was featured in the “big 30” grocer wholesales.

In 2003 Frank opened Chak 89, an award-winning restaurant and banqueting hall which has also expanded to outdoor catering services. The name Chak 89 brought a sense of nostalgia to the Khalid family as this is the name of the village in Pakistan where the owner’s family were born. It remains a place of agricultural beauty and still has history to its heritage by having the name and logo of Chak 89 on its village post sign. The restaurant has been visited by many high-profile Bollywood and Hollywood celebrities such as Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Vanessa Hudgens as well as many others.

Since 2014 Frank operated West London Film Studios, which provides studio space and facilities for film and television production. The business continues to thrive and was listed as one of UK’s top ten studios by “televisual magazine”. Award winning movies and television series have been filmed at the studios such as ‘The father’ starring Anthony Hopkins as well as the Emmy-award winning series ‘Killing Eve’ staring Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh.
